Dean Vannet CMdip – Director of Golf & Head PGA Professional

Born and raised near Carnoustie, the fun of playing golf quickly influenced the 7-year old Dean, and by the age of 16 he was representing Club and country, both at Scottish Schoolboy International level and in the Under-18 Internationals. The latter event culminated in the success which Dean’s family knew would eventually come, thanks to his dedication, when he won the European Schoolboy title over the challenging links of Portmarnock in Ireland.

Having searched for a Club to start his Professional career path with, he moved a little further north to take up the role as Assistant PGA Professional at Banchory Golf Club in 1985. For five years his training under Doug Smart was detailed and memorable, and during his time at the Club worked alongside another aspiring young Professional, Paul Lawrie.

Dean returned to Banchory Golf Club in 2016 after holding the position of Head Professional and General Manager at nearby Peterculter Golf Club for 23 years. With a number of highly respected titles in the Scottish Pro-Am Calendar to his name, Dean is now focused on the running of our extensive and welcoming Professional shop, delivering excellent customer service and first-class golf tuition.

Andrew Pillans – PGA Professional

A native of Fife, Andrew’s amateur career saw him achieve wins in a number of prestigious tournaments and quickly reduced his handicap to 1. It was clear to the members at his home club in Kirkaldy that his talent was in the ascent, and even as a Junior member Andrew won his Club Championship on two occasions, eventually going on to win the Fife Champion of Champions.

He continued to represent Fife in numerous county matches until in 2009 he was given the opportunity to further develop his skills, and knowledge, with a move to Qatar. He took up a position at Doha Golf Club’s prestigious Golf Academy where he also gained invaluable experience within the Professional’s Shop.

Andrew returned to the UK in 2015, and started his PGA training under Dean at Peterculter Golf Club. Now a fully-qualified PGA Member, Andrew’s great passions are Golf Coaching and Custom Fitting, both of which he is able to enjoy with the regular sessions both on the course or in the Swing Studio. Andrew also provides support to all our members and visitors in the running of our golf operations.
